Diuretic



Diuretic, drug that increases urine production by the kidneys, removing excess sodium and water from the body. Alcohol and caffeine are mild diuretics. Thiazides and other diuretics are commonly used in treatment of heart failure, edema, high blood pressure, and liver and kidney diseases.
