Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf

Dittersdorf, Karl Ditters von (1739–99), Austrian composer and violinist. He composed light operas, establishing the singspiel form. Among his works are the operas Doktor und Apotheker (1786), Hieronymus Knicker (1789), and Das Rote Käppchen (1790).
