James Lafayette Dickey



Dickey, James Lafayette (1923– ), U.S. poet, novelist, and critic. Dickey is best known for his novel Deliverance (1970), which was made into a movie in 1972. His collection of poems Buckdancer's Choice (1965), which, like his novel, explores themes of violence, won a National Book Award in 1966. Another poetry volume was The Zodiac (1976).
