Marguerite Lofft De Angeli



De Angeli, Marguerite Lofft (1889– ), U.S. author and illustrator of children's books. Many of her stories feature children of minority groups, such as the Quaker girl in Thee Hannah (1940), the Pennsylvania Dutch boy in Yonie Wondernose (1944), and the African-American girl in Bright April (1946). The Door in the Wall (1949), about English life in the 1300s, won the Newbery Award in 1950.
