Danube River



Danube River, second longest river of Europe. From southwest Germany it flows 1,750 mi (2,816 km) east through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine before emptying into the Black Sea. With its more than 300 tributaries, the Danube drains almost one-tenth of Europe and provides a major highway for European trade.
