Salvador Dali



Dali, Salvador (1904–89), Spanish painter, one of the masters of surrealism. Dali sought to portray the life of the unconscious by juxtaposing incongruous elements and emphasizing rich fantasy, combined with a refined draftsmanship. Among his major paintings are The Persistence of Memory (1931), Agnostic Symbol (1932), Geopoliticus (1943).
