Czechs, Slavic people who settled in Bohemia and Moravia in central Europe in the early Middle Ages and accounted for about two-thirds of Czechoslovakia's population. The city of Prague, center of Czech culture, became one of the great political and artistic capitals of Europe between the 14th and 17th centuries.
