Cult

Cult, religious worship of a supernatural object or of a representation of it. Although any religion may be called a cult, the term is used today primarily to refer to minority groups whose practices set them off from the rest of society in obvious ways. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church would be an example. There are approximately 3,000 such cults claiming a membership of about 3 million in the world today.
