Cucumber



Cucumber, common garden vegetable (Cucumis sativus) of the gourd family. The creeping vines and triangular leaves produce yellow or white flowers and bear cylindrical fruit 1 to 36 in (2.5 to 91 cm) long. Cucumbers grow rapidly in warm weather and are easily killed by frost. The fruits are popular eaten raw or pickled.
