Cropping system



Cropping system, any of a number of methods of replenishing soil after crops have been harvested. This can be done with fertilizers or insecticides or by rotation, a system of planting crops that replenish nutrients in the soil the previous crop removed. Chemical analysis of the soil often determines which crops might best replace lost nutrients.
