Vladimir Kosma Zworykin



Zworykin, Vladimir Kosma (1889–1982), Russian-born U.S. electronic engineer regarded as the father of modern television: His kinescope (patented 1924), little adapted, is our modern picture tube; and his iconoscope, though now obsolete, represents the basis of the first practical television camera. He also made important contributions to the electron microscope.
