Wolfe, Thomas Clayton (1900–38), U.S. novelist whose works constitute an autobiographical epic. Look Homeward, Angel (1929), Of Time and the River (1935), and the posthumous works The Web and the Rock (l939) and You Can't Go Home Again (1940) are rich in detail and characterization and capture the author's vividly felt sense of place.
