Wireworm

Wireworm, larva of the click beetle, which is often a serious pest. Wireworms are brown and hardskinned and are found in the soil. There is a wireworm pest for nearly every crop: They eat newly planted seeds or burrow into the roots and underground parts of stems. Because they spend several years in the soil before pupating, it is difficult to free the ground of wireworms.
