Wire glass

Wire glass, glass with wire mesh embedded in it to provide reinforcement for use in doors and windows. Usually 1/4–3/4 in (6–18 mm) thick, it may be produced by pressing the wire between 2 sheets of glass (Appert process), by pressing the wire into a single sheet (Shuman process), or by pouring molten glass over the mesh.
