Windward Islands



Windward Islands, group of islands in the Lesser Antilles, West Indies, stretching toward Venezuela. They include St. Lucia, St. Vincent, the Grenadines, Grenada, and Martinique. The area is about 950 sq mi (2,461 sq km) and the islands produce bananas, cacao, limes, nutmeg, and cotton. Tourism is an important industry.
