Alfred North Whitehead



Whitehead, Alfred North (1861–1947), English mathematician and philosopher. He was coauthor with Bertrand Russell of Principia Mathematica (3 vol., 1910–13), a major landmark in the philosophy of mathematics. While teaching at Harvard University (from 1924), Whitehead developed a monumental system of metaphysics, most comprehensively expounded in his book Process and Reality (1929).
