Whippoorwill



Whippoorwill, nocturnal North American bird (Caprimulgus vociferus) known for its odd, deliberate call. They are found in southeastern Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central America. Whippoorwills are about 10 in (25 cm) long with brown spotted feathers. They assist farmers by feeding on crop-damaging insects.
