William Whipple



Whipple, William (1730–85), colonial politician from New Hampshire. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a member of the provincial congress (1775) as well as the Continental Congress (1775–76, 1778). During the Revolution he served as a brigadier general. Afterwards he served his state as a member of its assembly (1780–84), a financial receiver (1782–84), and an associate justice of the superior court (1782–85).
