Waxwing

Waxwing, any of 3 species of starling-sized birds (genus Bombycilla) named for the red, waxlike marks on their wings. Found in the Northern Hemisphere, they are the Bohemian waxwing, the cedar waxwing, and the Japanese waxwing (of northeastern Asia). Waxwings feed largely on berries but feed their chicks on insects. They move their nesting grounds from place to place, and in some years migrate en masse southward in the fall.
