Vespasian



Vespasian (Titus Flavius Vespasianus; A.D. 9–79), Roman emperor from 69. The son of a tax collector, he rose in the army under Nero and was sent in 66 to suppress a rebellion in Judaea. His reign began an era of order and prosperity. He began the building of the Colosseum.
