Vedanta



Vedanta (Sanskrit, “end of knowledge”), system of Hindu philosophy, based at first on the Upanishads (the final part of the Veda) and later on the Brahma Sutras, commentaries on the Upanishads, that date from the 1st century A.D. The Vedanta concern the relation of the individual (atman) to the Absolute (Brahman).
