Louis Untermeyer



Untermeyer, Louis (1885–1977), U.S. writer and editor. Though he published many volumes of poetry and two novels, he is better recognized today as having been the editor of several poetry anthologies: Modern American Poetry (1919 and subsequent revision), Modern British Poetry (1920), and A Treasury of Great Poems, English and American (1942). From 1961 to 1963, he served as the poetry consultant for the Library of Congress.
