Nikolai Aleksandrovich Tikhonov

Tikhonov, Nikolai Aleksandrovich (1905– ), soviet premier (1980–85). In 1940 Tikhonov joined the Communist Party. During the 1950s–70s he rose in the Soviet government, becoming a member of the Politburo in 1979. Failing health caused him to resign in 1985.
