Teak



Teak (Tectona grandis), deciduous tree whose wood is among the most valuable. Teaks grow in tropical climates from India to Malaysia. The hard, oily (thus water-resistant) wood is used for house construction, furniture, railroad ties, etc. Several other trees produce a similar hardwood also called teak.
