Symbiosis



Symbiosis, also called mutualism, relationship between 2 dependent organisms of different species in which mutual benefit is derived by both participants. Other types of symbiotic relationships are commensalism which denotes independence of the symbiotes; parasitism, which implies potential injury to the host organism, and helotism, which denotes a master-slave relationship.
