Swan



Swan, any of various large, long-necked aquatic birds related to ducks and geese. There are eight species, seven within the genus Cygnus. Five of these are found in the Northern Hemisphere; all are white in adult plumage but have different-colored bills. The two remaining species are the black swan of Australia and the black-necked swan of South America. Most feed on vegetation.
