Solid

Solid, one of 3 states of matter possessing the property of excluding all other bodies from the space occupied by itself; it has a definite volume and definite shape. As a result of heating, the molecules of a solid begin to vibrate more rapidly, eventually breaking out of their fixed positions (at the melting point) and becoming a liquid.
