Soap plant



Soap plant, herb (Chlorogalum pomeridianum) of the lily family, native to California. It can grow to a height of 8 ft (2.4 m). The soap plant's small, white flowers open in late afternoon or evening and close in the morning. It grows from a large bulb, which was once used by Native Americans as soap and roasted for food.
