Skydiving



Skydiving, popular name for sport parachuting. Skydivers reach speeds of up to 100 mph (160 kmph) after jumping out of planes at altitudes of up to 15,000 ft (4,600 m). The last 3,000 ft (920 m) or so of the fall is slowed by a parachute. Skydivers who aim for a ground target are called accuracy skydivers. Those that fall in formation with other divers are called relative work skydivers.
