Dr. Seuss



Seuss, Dr. (Theodor Seuss Geisel; 1904– ), U.S. author-illustrator of children's books. His many imaginative verse tales—Horton Hears a Who (1954), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1957)—and humorous pictorial fantasies are tremendously popular. In 1984 he was acknowledged by the Pulitzer committee for having contributed for nearly half a century to the education and reading enjoyment of U.S. children.
