Seahorse

Seahorse, small marine fish of the Syngnathidae family (genus Hippocampus) found mostly in tropical waters, the head and forepart of which strongly resemble the head and neck of a horse. The seahorse is generally under 6 in (15 cm) long, with a body covered with bony plates and a long prehensile tail used to anchor the fish to plants. The female lays eggs in a pouch on the underside of the male, where they are fertilized and mature until they are released as live young.
