Scandinavia

Scandinavia, region of northwestern Europe. Geographically it consists of the Scandinavian peninsula (about 300,000 sq mi/777,000 sq km), occupied by Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Because of close historical development, Finland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands are also covered by the term in matters of language, culture, peoples, and politics.
