Saône River



Saône River, waterway of eastern France. The Saône flows some 268 mi (431 km) and connects with the Rhône River at Lyon. The industrial city, Chalon-sur-Saône, lies on its banks. It is navigable for 233 mi (375 km) and has 30 locks. Barge traffic is heavy along its lower course.
