Sandpiper



Sandpiper, any of several small to medium-sized wading birds forming part of the family Scolopacidae and found in all parts of the world. Most are slim birds with long straight bills and dull brown, gray, or white plumage. Among the species found in North America are the spotted sandpiper (Actitus macularia) and the upland sandpiper (Bartramia longicauda).
