Saint Lawrence River



Saint Lawrence River, largest tributary in Canada, flowing 744 mi (1,197 km) northeast from Lake Ontario to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It forms 120 mi (193 km) of the U.S./Canadian border. Canalized as part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, it serves as the chief outlet for Great Lakes shipping (although it is closed from mid-December to mid-April due to ice).
