Russell Sage



Sage, Russell (1816–1906), U.S. financier who amassed a fortune from the wholesale grocery, railroad, and other businesses. From his $70-million estate, his widow used $10 million to establish the Russell Sage Foundation (1907) to better U.S. social conditions.
