Carl Edward Sagan



Sagan, Carl Edward (1934–96), U.S. astronomer, educator, and popular science writer. From 1968 a professor at Cornell University, he worked on NASA space probe projects and conducted research into the possibility of extraterrestrial life. He helped popularize science through his public television series Cosmos (1980). Sagan's books include the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Dragons of Eden (1977) and the novel Contact (1985).
