Saga

Saga, epic narrative, in prose or verse, of Old Norse literature (11th to mid-14th century). Subjects of sagas range from history (Sturlungasaga) to histories of mythical heroes (Volsungasaga) or families (Njald). One of the greatest saga authors was Snorri Sturluson, whose Heimskringla (1230) traced the history of the kings of Norway.
