Ruminant

Ruminant, any of a group of even-toed, hoofed mammals (e.g., giraffes, camels, goats, cows) that regurgitate and rechew their food after swallowing it. They feed by filling one compartment (the rumen) of a 3- or 4-chambered stomach with unmasticated food; the food is mixed with fluid which creates a soft pulp (cud or bolus), and then is regurgitated, rechewed, and sent to the other stomach chambers for digestion.
