Rubaiyat



Rubaiyat, collection of quatrains written by Omar Khayyám, an 11th century Persian poet, and translated to English by Edward Fitzgerald (1859). The oldest known manuscript of the original is housed at the Bodleian Library, Oxford and is dated 1460. The Rubaiyat views sensual pleasure as the purpose of life, and it heavily influenced post-Victorian English poetry.
