Rose of Sharon



Rose of Sharon, or Althaea (Hibiscus syriacus), shrub in the mallow family. The rose of Sharon, a native of Asia, is abundant in North American gardens. It is grown indoors in pots and often transplanted to the outdoors. The late purple through white and blue blooms of September are about 3 in (8 cm) wide. This shrub often reaches a height of 12 ft (3.7 m).
