Rope

Rope, thick, strong cord made from twisted lengths of fiber. It can be made from manila hemp, henequen, sisal, true hemp, coir (coconut palm fiber), flax, jute, and cotton. Synthetic fibers, particularly nylon and polyesters, are used for lighter and more durable rope. Other ropes, such as for suspension cables in bridge building, are made from wire.
