Richard Rodgers



Rodgers, Richard (1902–79), U.S. songwriter and composer. He collaborated with librettist Lorenz Hart on A Connecticut Yankee (1927), Pal Joey (1940), and many other Broadway musicals containing dozens of enormously popular songs. Later he teamed up with Oscar Hammerstein II on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Oklahoma! (1943), South Pacific (1949), The King and I (1951), and The Sound of Music (1959), among other shows.
