Bill Robinson



Robinson, Bill (1878–1949), popular U.S. dancer and entertainer, nicknamed “Bojangles.” He won national and international acclaim as a musical comedy performer and was featured in numerous Broadway shows and Hollywood films, including those in which he starred with Shirley Temple. He was especially known for his “stair tap” dance, which he claimed to have invented when he danced up a staircase to receive an award from the king of England.
