Joachim von Ribbentrop



Ribbentrop, Joachim von (1893–1946), German Nazi leader, ambassador to the United Kingdom (1936–38) and foreign minister (1938–45). He helped to negotiate the Rome-Berlin Axis (1936) and the Russo-German nonaggression pact (1939) and to plan the invasion of Poland, but he wielded little influence in World War II. He was hanged for war crimes.
