Regina Medal



Regina Medal, children's literature award. Presented annually by the Catholic Library Association, the Regina Medal is awarded to an individual for a lifetime contribution to children's literature. Award winners do not have to be Catholic or American to receive the honor. The first winner was Eleanor Farjeon (1959). Other distinguished recipients have been Frederic Melcher (1962), Lois Lenski (1969), Beverly Cleary (1980), Dr. Seuss (1982), and Tomie DePaola (1983).
