Rectangle

Rectangle, 4-sided plane figure with sides that meet at 4 right-angles. Rectangles are classified as special cases of parallelograms, in that the opposite sides are parallel and of equal length, but all 4 sides are not necessarily equal. When they are equal, rectangles are called squares. The word is derived from the Latin rectus angulus, meaning straight angles.
