Rain tree



Rain tree, or monkeypod tree (Pithecellobium saman), shade tree found in tropical climates of the Americas. This short tree has branches that may span 100 ft (30 m) or more. Monkeys often eat its black seed pods. The rain tree has pink to white flowers, as well as a transparent fluid—rainlike in appearance—that drips from its branches.
