Rain gauge

Rain gauge, instrument that measures accumulated rainfall in a specific location during a particular period. The open vessel is calibrated to measure linear units. These devices vary in type: some collect the water in an inner tube marked with measurements, some empty and simultaneously record the amount of collected rainwater, some collect and weigh falling rain. Computer analysis is used to calculate the amount of rainfall.
