Radish

Radish, herb (Raphanus sativus), relative of mustard whose edible root looks like a small white to red turnip and has a burning flavor. A native of Europe, it was introduced as a garden plant but has become a weed. Radishes are eaten raw but the related horseradish, not a true radish, is ground up and served as a condiment.
